The NBA season kicks of on Tuesday when the defending champion San Antonio Spurs will host the Denver Nuggets at 8 PM ET on TNT. Below is my season predictions for each conference.
This season is perhaps the most balanced season in terms of east against west. A shift of power has been made over the past few season as Shaq and many more have switched sides. Last year in the west it came down to San Antonio and Phoenix, but now with Amar gone for Phoenix, who will there be to challenge them. Sure there are up and coming teams such as Denver and Memphis in the west, but there not quite up to San Antonios level yet. Two teams in the west I feel could make a run at San Antonio, Houston and Seattle. Seattle cardinally gave them a great challenge last year in the playoffs. It is wasnt for an amazing pass from Ginobili to Duncan it would of been a seven game series. Houston on the other hand has a dynamic duo of McGrady and Yao Mingo who should be even better in their second season together.
West Prediction - San Antonio over Houston in 6 games
The eastern conference it much simpler. You have Miami, Detroit, and Indiana who could be lifted by the return of Ron Artest. Theres really no point of discussing any other teams as they wont make any impact at all. Itll come down to game 7 between Miami and Detroit. Miami will have an advantage as they picked up Antoine Walker and Jason Williams, two experienced veterans who will make the difference in the game. Last your the teams were even down to a minute to go when Detroit took over. Those two additions will yield them to victory.
East Prediction - Miami Heat over Detroit in 7 games
So a finals match up of San Antonio and Miami, a rematch of the rivals Tim Duncan and Shaq. San Antonio just has way to many weapons for Miami to handle. You know Duncan always performs well under pressure and all theyll need is a few other people to have good games. Parker, Ginobili, Horry, Barry dont all have to play good for them to win, but Wade, Shaq, and Jones all have to play perfect. San Antonio size and depth will be to much fro Miami to handle.
Finals Prediction - San Antonio over Miami in 5 games
