has selected Uruguay-born, New York, based architect Rafael Vinoly to design a new building. Replacing the existing 22-year-old building, Vinoly plans a 125,000-square-foot structure that will be key to an ambitious revitalization plan for the city\s historic downtown waterfront district. The $46-million project includes new galleries, an auditorium, a cafe, classrooms and a museum store. Construction is set to begin in 2004.COPYRIGHT 2002 Brant Publications, Inc.
