Does the thought of asking someone for an interview causeyour tongue to hide in theback of your throat? Does the thought of spending the nightsleeping with the family dogyou affectionately call Marmaduke appeal to you more thanasking someone for a fewminutes of their time? The fact of the matter is, whetheryour writing an ebook, or anarticle for a magazine, an interview with an expert whospecialises in your topic ofchoice ads credibility to your writing and shows prospectiveeditors your willing to go theextra mile to ensure that what you write is factual, andthat your willing to interview theexperts required to back up the research youve done. Areyou expecting your potentialinterviewee to jump through your computer screen, scream andshout, and make all kindsof funny faces at you? And then scream...no way! Its thatfear of rejection thing, isntit? Do me a favour, grab yourself a size 12 shoe and stompon that baby! Its therapeutican itll make you feel a whole lot better. Sorry to burstyour bubble, but 95% of the timethis wont happen. They may say no, but you know what? Thats ok. Its their loss andyour gain. Chalk it up as a learning experience and move onto the next person. Takecomfort in knowing that the majority of people will beflattered that you have asked fortheir expertise, and probably would be willing to help youout. After all, their gettinggood publicity by giving you an interview. Its a win-winsituation for both parties. Justmake sure that when you do approach people about giving youan interview that youalready have the questions that you want to ask them readybefore hand. Its notadvisable to ask them 100 different questions, 10 or lessshould be appropriate. Makesure your questions cannot be answered with a simple yes orno, after all you want to addsome good content to you project...right? Just make sure tothank them for their time andconsider giving them a free copy of your finished product.
